After the Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 winning Super Bowl 51, quarterback Tom Brady returned to the lockers, ready to celebrate with his team. However, Brady was unable to find his jersey, which he removed before his MVP performance.
Officials suspect that someone broke into the locker rooms and stole his jersey from his bag. They were unable to look at the video footage, due to the fact the Patriots lacked surveillance outside the locker rooms. The only people with access to the locker rooms were Patriots players, team officials, family of New England executives, NFL employees and security.
Houston Police deemed the case to be their top priority, due its potential value of 500,000 dollars.
“I put it in my bag, I came out and it wasn’t there anymore. That’s unfortunate because that’s a nice piece of memorabilia,” Brady told reporters at his MVP press conference on Monday. “If it shows up on eBay somewhere, someone let me know.”
Currently, the Houston police are willing to give a reward to whomever returns Brady’s jersey.
