A flurry of colors could be seen throughout the halls of Vista this Wednesday, with the space exploration theme of the 60’s and 70’s. Kids daunting flower crowns, bell bottoms and funky headbands packed the halls, and stayed in costume from school to the hockey game later that night.

Sponsored food included Buffalo Wild Wings, Shake Shack and Dairy Queen for students to get some energy before the big afterschool events, with a portion of proceeds going to the Make a Wish Foundation and cause.

The varsity hockey game against Cherry Creek was the not-to-miss event of the day. South Suburban Sports Complex reached a record attendance rate with over 2,000 attendees to cheer on the athletes. With a close game in the first and second periods, Vista ended up losing with a 2-7 score. Highlights of the game featured Vista’s eagle mascot riding around on the Zamboni to cheer to the student section and number 19, Jack Strassner’s, 12, first goal of the season.

Spirits were kept high with a free skate after the game. Students and players had time to fly around the rink, laughs did not go unheard as fun was had by all. “Space Exploration Wednesday” ended with a bang.

Senior Owen Pontius, 12, dressed up every single day in the spirit of the week. Weds he dressed for Space Age and patiently allowed Mrs. B to take yet ANOTHER picture of him in the hallway.
During intermission between periods the orange buckets travelled through the crowd for the annual Miracle minute. Coach Bob Wood helped to supervise the rowdy crowd. Photo by : Clare Fesker
