Vista Nation Track & Field has had a remarkable season thus far and is in preparation for the state meet May 19 through May 21.
Senior Paxton Smith is a distance runner and races in the two mile, one mile and also competes on a relay team.
“[For the state meet] I am qualified for both the mile and two mile. I’m hoping to be all state in both of those events. Our 4×8 relay team is also qualified for state and we have a great chance at possibly winning the state title in that,” Smith said.
The track team is prepared for a lot of hard work in the next 15 days.
“We need to just get through the next two weeks. It’s a busy time of year. Everything is coming to an end. We need to stay healthy and not get sick. This way we can practice strong the last couple weeks getting some good speed work in as the final touch before state,” Smith said.
The meet will take place at the Jefferson County Stadium in Lakewood.
