The Literary Magazine Wants Your Submission

The+Literary+Magazine+Wants+Your+Submission

Every year, the Penman’s Syndicate Club releases a literary magazine full of students’ personal and creative art pieces. This year, the topic is to help the character of one’s story solve a problem from the perspective of a librarian. The writer can choose between any of the five prompts to write about:

1) What is the meaning of life?

2) When is silence better than words?

3) What types of sentient life are there besides humans and where do they exist?

4) What is the nature of reality?

5) What is the difference between living and existing?

Ilyena Wagner, 11, is one of the students organizing the magazine. She encourages everyone to submit poetry, artwork or short stories, anonymously or by name. “It’s a fun outlet,” Wagner said. “It’s a great way to get your voice heard.”

To submit pieces, and for more information, students can go to the magazine’s website. Submissions are welcome at anytime. The Penman’s Syndicate Club hopes to publish the literary magazine by the end of the 2018 school year, but an official date is not set yet.

“My favorite part is reading other people’s work,” Wagner said. “The kid sitting next to you in class may be a great writer, but you’d never know. It’s a great way to get to know the students at Vista a little better.”
