For many students, high school is about preparing yourself for college, a job, and ultimately life. This is why DECA is one of the most popular clubs not only at Mountain Vista, but the nation. Students compete against other schools in a battle of business, participating in role play situations and practice marketing different products and services.
Why do so many students participate in this club? Sophomore Jason Fisch says, “I like it because it teaches us real life stuff, such as how to manage yourself in the business.” And that is the goal of the program: prepare students for the business world.
The Mountain Vista DECA program has been fairly successful in past years, and students such as Fisch hope this year is no different. “We’re going to beat every single [other school]. Especially Thunder Ridge.” Fisch said in an optimistic, yet playful tone.
The upcoming Wolverine competition is going to be the first of the year, taking place on Oct. 25.
