LEXI WEINGARDT Selena Gomez’s new album Revival was released on October 9. Her song “Good For You” became popular before her album came out and was number five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart as of October 3. Her newest song, “Same Old Love”, is also from “Revival”. “Same Old Love” is currently number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and is still rising.
The album has been described as a mix of pop and some techno elements. Some songs even border on dubstep, such as her song “Body Heat”. Although I do like some of the songs on this album, overall it is much too electronic for my tastes. I do think the songs are more meaningful in comparison to songs on her other albums, however the beauty of the song is often overrun by background music. The best songs on the album are the ones where her voice is in the forefront. “Nobody” and “Camouflage” are a good example of this.
I’m not sure if I would go out and buy this CD or even buy the whole album on iTunes, but I wouldn’t skip the songs if they came on Pandora.
