Colorado University Football Player Arrested for Assault

Defensive Lineman Josh Tupou, key to the Buffs defense, was booked into the Boulder 635618717558462571-D5914022County Jail Thursday, accused of breaking a hole in a fence at a party in February and tackling a guy less than half his size.

The official charges are listed as: suspicion of second-degree assault, two counts of third-degree assault, criminal mischief, trespassing and reckless endangerment.

The defensive tackle turned himself in to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Thursday.

Tupou is accused of having assaulted three men at a house party. One was taken to a local hospital to treat a broken nose and a broken bone in his cheek. A second man was allegedly kicked in his groin by Tupou, while a third was allegedly punched in the back of the head.

​The last two seasons, Tupou started all 24 games for the Buffaloes and was considered an NFL prospect now entering into his season season this upcoming fall.

The athletic department has not commented on what if any punishment is awaiting the defensive lineman.
