11.30. p.m. As the trash is almost cleaned up, senior Chloe Brown, a member of student leadership, reflects on how this year’s homecoming was better than the last year’s. “This year, I felt there was more unity and it made for a better environment,” Brown said.

11.23. p.m. The homecoming d.js, Paws (pictured below to the left) and Mountain Vista alumni Decadon (pictured below to the right), also thoroughly enjoyed themselves. “It was crazy. That group was going as hard as some of the crowds of one, two, three thousand people that we play for,” Paws said. “It felt good to give back to the school the groomed me,” Decadon said.

11.17. p.m. The homecoming dance was also considered a success by returning students, such as sophomore Heather Hewitt (pictured below on the left). “It was really good. Better than last year,” Hewitt said. “The d.j was much better.”

11.15. p.m. For freshmen, after the dance had concluded, homecoming was mostly considered to be a success, as it was for freshman Julia Rhin. “It was awesome. I got to dance and be with my friends.” Rhin said.

11.12. p.m. 12 minutes after the dance, students finally start heading out.

11.02. p.m. Despite the dance officially ending, the students dance on to the last song of the night “Latch,” by Disclosure.

10.52. p.m. The students attending the homecoming dance make the most of the last eight minutes they have.

10.44. p.m. Even if the dancing was the main attraction, many of the attendants of the dance enjoyed the finer aspects of the dance just as much, as sophomore Drew Lugo (pictured below on the right) did. “I liked the candy and the photo booth,” Lugo said. “It was very memorable, but we should have had punch.”

10.30. p.m. For many new freshmen, this homecoming is the first one they have ever attended. The reception from the freshmen has been mostly positive, as it was from freshman Alex Smith. “It’s obviously not going to get too crazy, since it’s a school dance. For what we got though, it is definitely good,” Smith said.

10.20. p.m. With the homecoming dance on it’s last legs, the students of Vista show no signs of slowing down.

10.00. p.m. The homecoming dance is two thirds of the way done and reception from the student body is still mostly positive. One of the students who has had a positive experience is junior Aaron Albury (pictured below on the far right). Homecoming is extravagant. Everything is decked out,” Albury said.

9.47. p.m. On or off the dance floor, plenty of people are showing up to the homecoming dance.

9.35. pm. Amidst all of the chaos of the dance, the homecoming decorations get torn and crumpled.

9.20. p.m. While many of the students are enjoying homecoming, some students have grown bored of it, such as senior Corinne Landey. She decided to sit in the corner with her boyfriend, Ponderosa High School senior Jackson Winn, due to boredom. “The music isn’t very easy to dance to,” Landey said. “It’s also our fourth homecoming, so the novelty has worn off.”

9:10. p.m. The students of Mountain Vista dance their hearts out to the song “Rude,” by MAGIC!.

9.00. p.m. One third of homecoming is over and the students are impressed, such as Senior Justin Barker, the first student to arrive at homecoming. “It has been Great actually. The student d.j is a big improvement over last year,” Barker said. “There are a lot less distractions. It is amazing.”

8.50. p.m. “The Wizard of Oz” theme for homecoming has received high praise from students attending the dance. “I was a little skeptical at first, but it is amazing. The decorations are the best they have been in years,” Senior Amanda Burget said.

8.38. p.m. The homecoming dance starts to get pumped up.

8.24. p.m. Taking your shoes off in order to enter the homecoming dance may seem like an odd rule, but some people actually prefer it, such as freshman JP Kruger. “I think it’s fine,” Kruger said. “You don’t have to worry about people stepping on your feet while you dance.”

8.12. p.m. The outside line is empty and almost everyone has gotten into the inside line.

8.05. p.m. The lines start filling up at homecoming.

8.00. p.m. Homecoming begins.

7.58. p.m. Throughout it’s history, Mountain Vista’s homecoming has never had someone under the influence show up. “Students know they will be tested,” Vance Fleet said. “Who would want to show up knowing they will be tested?”

7.50 p.m. Student leadership has worked hard to make homecoming different this year, as told by adviser Lindsey Jaffe. “It’s just different,” Jaffe said. “We put in a lot of time and research and we really focused on what we though kids would want.”

7.40 p.m. What does homecoming mean to students? Michael Weaver weighs in. “I think students see homecoming as an opportunity for having a great time with friends,” Weaver said.

7.25 p.m. The homecoming dance starts in 35 minutes.
