On Friday, Nov. 10, the varsity volleyball team took the floor at the Denver Coliseum to compete in the 5A state tournament.
Vista went into the tournament ranked first in pool number one following their victories in the regionals tournament. They faced opponents Cherry Creek High School and Rocky Mountain High School for a chance to advance to the next round of play.
The team was defeated by Cherry Creek in their first game in the morning but handily defeated Rocky Mountain in the afternoon, winning three sets in a row. Unfortunately, the team’s hopes of advancing were cut short with Rocky Mountain’s defeat to Cherry Creek, who would eventually advance to the state final.
The Golden Eagles ended their season ranked fourth in the state with an overall record of 22-5.
