Every year, in a galaxy not so far away, Lucasfilm holds a “Star Wars” Celebration where actors, fans, directors and franchise officials gather to celebrate “Star Wars” and see what the upcoming year has in store for the future of the saga.
This year’s celebration was heavily anticipated by fans because of the upcoming release of “Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi” (2017) this December. Starting on April 13, the convention took place at the Orange County Convention Center.
In order to kick-off the largest media covered “Star Wars” convention on Thurs., the convention opened with a tribute to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of one of the most successful movie sagas in history. As the convention continues, fans have high expectations for the things to come; including a trailer for the upcoming film.
Fans are hoping that Lucasfilm will seize the opportunity and drop the first trailer or teaser for the upcoming film. Not much is known about the upcoming movie, but the panel is said to feature “surprise” actors from the upcoming film, and writer/director Rian Johnson. Most importantly, the fans are awaiting the return of Mark Hamill, who made an appearance at the conference yesterday.
A livestream of the “Last Jedi” Pannel can be viewed from the Star Wars YouTube channel beginning at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET.
The celebration will run through Sun., April 16.
