Rene Dreiling, a Mountain Vista class of 2014 graduate, was reported missing in Grand Teton National Park on Sept. 2. On Sept. 5, park rangers believe they located a body matching Dreiling’s description.
Nearly 100 people and helicopters were involved in the search for the 21-year-old man, and rangers are now working to extract the body.
Dreiling ran track during his senior year at Mountain Vista and competed in the 100 meter, 200 meter, 400 meter and long jump events.
Dreiling was friends with and impacted many students who still attend Vista.
“Rene definitely had a positive impact on me and everyone around him. Every day at practice he was smiling and had the best attitude,” said senior Cameron Kroonenberg, a former track teammate of Dreiling’s. “He was a good spiritual leader and was always looking to make the team better…he definitely will be missed.”
