LEXI WEINGARDT & REGAN LAVALLEE It is that time of year again when we all tire of waking up at 6 a.m. to go to school and spend all day attending classes and working on things that many of us tend to consider pointless. It is the time of year when teachers are realizing they haven’t covered everything they need to, and that the end is approaching fast, so they pile us with a crap-ton of work to try to make up for lost time. It is the time of year when every kid aches for summer that is so close, yet so far away.
We are no different; we have grown weary of group projects with people that don’t work and wearing heavy sweaters and jeans to school everyday. We have this theory that weather can have a significant impact on a person’s mood. According to a blog titled “Can Weather Affect Your Mood?” on Psych Central, “Higher temperatures raise a person with a low mood up, while things like wind or not enough sun made a low person feel even lower.”
Think about it. When the sun is out, smiles are on everyone’s faces. When it is snowing, it takes everyone forever to get to school and further from burrowing into their blankets. Sunshine brings happiness and gray skies brings dreariness.
With this in mind, we would like to bring up the point of fashion. People dress how they are feeling. Along with their attitudes being brighter when it is sunny, so are their fashion choices. Who doesn’t love dress and shorts weather? Winter may be apparent, but spring season is around the corner. Blue skies and 75 degrees, girls will be sporting something other than jeans!
Here are our fashion predictions for the spring and summer season: fashion styles will most closely match the trends from the 70’s and 90’s. The heavily concentrated base colors will be burgundy, black, and white, with light pastel colors moving into the accessory department. Keep your faux army jackets handy for those chilly mornings into the rainy evenings. For those hot afternoons, strappy sandals will show off the bright colored nail polish. And with the trending “Damn Daniel” video, keep those white converse polished.
If you are like us – sick of school and ready for summer to start – remember that happier times and sunnier days are just around the corner!
