GRAHAM HENDERSON
This album may have been released in 1967, but it still sounds fresh today. Jimi Hendrix was ahead of his time. Still today, there is no better guitar player than him. The songs on this album are diverse, each with a radically different sound, which makes for a very interesting and immersive listening session. But what I love about listening to Jimi Hendrix is that no matter how different the songs are, you know it’s him. The songs are complicated and layered for those who are serious about music, but also accessible to the common listener. The instrumentals are impressive and complex, but the lyrics can relate to many. Jimi Hendrix has no gimmick, his music is just good. He lived during a time when music was at it’s best, you had to be very talented to get recognition unlike today. This album needs to be heard to expose people to the raw talent of the classic rock age and to lose one’s self in the music. I hear something new every time I listen to this album.
Tracks that stand out: Hey Joe, Wind Cries Mary, Purple Haze
