Spring Fever

KENZIE HABERKORN

It’s coming to that point in the year when the weather’s getting warmer, the school days are getting longer and the motivation to continue working hard in school is dwindling.  In case you find your grades slipping, here are some tips to get them back up and finish the school year on a good note.

Take responsibility: taking responsibility means not making excuses anymore.  Just because you have the hardest teacher in the world doesn’t mean that you can’t get an A, it just means you may need to work harder to get the grade you want. Gracie Haasbeek, sophomore, says that she “has no motivation” in school and sophomore Kailey Livingston says that people are “too focused on summer and they school year being over” which is why they are having trouble focusing in classes and getting what they need to do done.

It’s the response, not the failure that counts: everyone faces defeat from time to time, but we’re not measured by our failures.  You’re measured by how you respond to them.  If you maybe had a tough time at the beginning or some point in the middle of the semester there’s no time like the present to pick up the motivation and come back on top. Mikayla Hix, sophomore, says to fix her grades she’s planning on doing as much extra credit as possible and making sure she turns in her homework.

Perform: the best way to make a comeback from a momentary grade slip is to perform. Doing test corrections, extra credit and turning in missing assignments. Haasbeek hopes to do well on her tests to save her grades and her future.

Just remember that it’s never too late to make a difference in your grades.  Just because you’ve dug a hole for yourself doesn’t mean you should give up on your grades, it just means that you may need more help to get it back up. Ask for help from your parents and teachers and as long as your kind they should be more than happy to help.
