This past weekend, the Mountain Vista (MV) varsity boys cross country team participated in the Woodbridge Cross Country Invitational in Irvine, California. The team was led by senior Josh Romine and junior Carter Dillon who placed ninth and eleventh overall.

“It’s definitely a great win, but it’s just a step in the process,” Romine said. “We’ve got important races down the line so we have to stay focused. At the same time, we still can enjoy the victory and see where we are at as a team. It gives us a lot of confidence and we know that we just have to keep doing the training that we’ve been doing and trust the process.”

“It’s a great feeling knowing all of our training is paying off,” said Romine.  “Although we won this race, we still have bigger goals ahead of us;  [like] to win State and NXR [Nike Cross Regionals] to head back to NXN [Nike Cross Nationals]. To be a champion means you’ve come together as a team and worked harder and fought harder than anyone else on the field. We are all still focused on the races ahead of us and know we just have to take it week by week.”

The team looks forward to running in the Columbine Dave Sanders Invitational this weekend.
