It’s a special week with testing and prom. The class schedule can be found here.
This year’s Prom Week is focused around Project el Crucero.
Project el Crucero is a non-profit organization based in Colorado that serves the people of the small village of El Crucero, Nicaragua.
“We run a medical and dental clinic that offers treatments for people for no charge. We also run a feeding program that is weekly that provides a hot meal to around 60 children each week,” senior leader Reagan Tonner said.
Tonner has been involved with Project el Crucero for over 10 years.
“My favorite part is seeing what a difference it makes in the community of El Crucero. I’ve been going for 10 years now and I love seeing all of the kids grow up and building relationships with all of the different families in the village,” Tonner said.
Students can purchase a Project el Crucero t-shirt for $15 here. The proceeds from t-shirts, dodgeball and Ruff n’ Tuff will benefit Project el Crucero. Dodgeball is Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the main gym and Ruff n’ Tuff is Wednesday at 7 p.m.
“By donating change, buying shirts, and participating in the after school events they will be helping expand our feeding program to provide more meals each week and to help allow us to give more medical and dental treatments to the people of El Crucero,” Tonner said. “I think the top reason people should get involved is to try and make a difference that will effect people in a different part of the world. Our community has done an amazing job this year helping out our community and I think it will be a great opportunity for us to make a difference somewhere other than our backyard.”
