Mountain Vista Hockey upsets Ralston Valley

The Mountain Vista Ice hockey team ended Ralston Valley’s historic 38 game winning streak on friday Jan. 23 after a nail-biting game and a stellar performance from the team.

Vista faced adversity early in the game after being down 2-0 in the second period. Despite the deficit Vista chose fought back.

Junior Nicholas Vitale scored for Vista 1:10 after Ralston Valley scored their second goal and shortly after that junior Aiden Kirby tied up the game after scoring off of a rebound.

Vista then killed off Ralston Valley’s 5-on-3 power with just under four minutes left in the second period.

Ralston Valley struck first in the third, netting their third goal and making the score 3-2. It only took Vista 90 seconds to respond with a snap shot goal from Captain, senior,  Bryan Hancock. Senior Jake Dosen then scored, putting Vista up 4-3 and eventually giving Vista the Win.

Vista is now 9-1-1 this season and is ranked fourth in the state according to CHSAA.
