What’s Happening with NHS this Year?

Senior Sasha Oullet, vice president of the National Honor Society (NHS), says he has big plans for this year. To start off there will be a lot more service opportunities than there were last year.

“I want to lead the group and make changes to help the community and get people more involved and motivated to do great things,” Oullet said. “We hope to help families in the community, as well as people from all around the world. Last year we donated food and materials to children in Africa, and we hope to expand on that this year,”

There will be plenty of opportunities for NHS members to get all of their service hours in this year. Some of the things NHS is hoping to do are: raising money to replace old school desk, have a teacher breakfast day, adopting a family for Christmas, canned food drives and countless more opportunities soon to be announced.

Thursday, Sept. 18 at 8:30 a.m., there will be a mandatory senior meeting in the auditorium, so be sure to mark that on your calendar if you are a senior.

To all the incoming members, NHS will have a new member induction ceremony held on Tuesday, Oct. 28.  Another big meeting will be on Wednesday, Nov. 19. This meeting will be more of an informational meeting addressed to all of the members.

There are many ways to stay involved and know when opportunities are approaching. One way is to follow Vista’s NHS Twitter page @VISTA_NHS.

So remember to stay involved and be excited for another spectacular year in Vista’s NHS!
