Mountain Vista’s student leadership hosted a tailgate on Aug. 17 for the entire community at Shea Stadium while Vista’s football program scrimmaged Douglas County, Ponderosa and Prairie View High Schools.
“For the most part, I like what I saw,” varsity head coach, Ric Cash said. “Early on, we were kind of struggling getting rolling…but as teams started to come over in the second and third scrimmage, we started to see that when they were getting a little tired, we started to work a little better.”
Student leadership invited vendors such as Abbiocco! Wood Fired Pizza, Gigi’s Cupcakes and Kona Ice to the tailgate. Games and bouncy houses were also set up in the south parking lot for students and the community.
“It [was] incredible,” freshman Delaney Sherman said. “I [was] really happy and excited to be [there].”
The varsity football team’s first game of the season is this Friday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. at NAAC Stadium (19500 W. 64th Parkway, Golden).
