12 Mountain Vista athletes received All-State honors at the State track meet May 19-21 by placing in the top 9 in each of their events.
Senior Paxton Smith took 3rd in the 3200 and 4th in the 1600. “It was an honor to place so well. It was awesome to help lead our team to our first top 10 finish at state,” Smith said. “I will miss wearing that Vista singlet, [but] was pumped to wear it one last time with a success.”
Ryan Currie, senior, Robbie Gleeson, senior, Carter Dillon, sophomore, Caden Foster, sophomore, took 3rd in the Boys 4×800. “It was exhilarating knowing that we were in the top 3 teams,” Gleeson said. “It was really an accomplishment knowing that we laid it all out on the track.”
Parker Mackay, sophomore, took 5th in the 3200.
Caden Foster, sophomore, took 7th in the 800.
Mauren Fitzsimmons, junior, Caroline Eck, freshman, Becca Walton, sophomore, Julia Chambers, freshman, took 8th in the Girls 4×800. “It was an awesome experience. Standing up on that podium knowing not only that you did your best but also that you are up there representing your friends and your school is a really great feeling,” Walton said. “It felt like all of the hard work from the season really paid off.”
