Tonight at 11:45 p.m. the 2016 DC Comic After-Prom party will begin at Mountain Vista.
The After Prom Committee invited friends and family to explore After Prom from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. While everyone headed downtown to the Brown Palace for the dance, I took a sneak peek at what the second half of their night has instore.
Walking into the school, I found myself placed on the rooftop of a city building. This is the first and last stop of the party, where students sign in and out. The MVHS logo is projected onto the ceiling, accompanied by a cutout of Superman.
Going down the main staircase, other comic characters like Black Widow and Green Lantern are displayed around the commons. To the left of the staircase is where food can be found, courtesy of Qdoba, Chick-fil-a, Noodles & Co, Lamar’s Donuts, and Cornzapoppin. On the backside of the staircase, there is a massage table set-up with a Vista 2016 graffiti wall behind it.
A red carpet leads straight into the commons. The Gammaray Casino is where prizes and some games can be found.
The hallway leading into the gym is known as “Weaver’s School of Gifted Seniors.” Here, pictures of each and every senior are spread out throughout the hall printed to look like comic characters.
The gym was where all the action took place. The bouncy castles are set-up there along with pedal go-carts. I took advantage of these to have some fun at the pre-after prom. The carts went as fast as I pedaled, and with the bouncy castles not being blown up yet, there was plenty of room to race around.
Families each lined up to take their turn racing each other around the gym. If students have as fun of a time as I did, they are set to have a MARVELous time in DC.
