Student of the Week is a series designed to help everyone at Mountain Vista High School learn more about their fellow classmates. This week: Sophomore Chris Lovejoy
Eagle Eye: What’s your full name?
Chris Lovejoy: Christopher Walker Lovejoy.
EE: Where were you born?
CL: Evergreen, Colorado.
EE: What is your favorite color?
CL: Red.

CL: I like to jet ski.
EE: What do you do in your free time?
CL: Jet ski.
EE: What is the most interesting thing that has happened to you at school?
CL: I was interviewed by Nike in Arizona.
EE: Why did Nike interview you?
CL: I was competing in regionals with cross country.
EE: What do you plan to do after high school?
CL: I would like to go into marketing.
EE: What is it like being in DECA?
CL: It gives you an edge in the real world. You learn social skills that you need to know in business and it helps a ton.
EE: What got you interested in DECA originally?
CL: Some friends of mine did it last year, but I’ve developed my own reasons for liking it since then.
EE: What team are you on for cross country?
CL: Varsity.
EE: What is it like balancing DECA and cross country?
CL: Sometimes DECA gets in the way of practice and meets but when you do two things you have to learn to balance them. I have it down.
EE: When did you start doing cross country?
CL: I started doing it in middle school and it carried on into high school, but I wasn’t interested until high school.
EE: Why did you not get interested until high school?
CL: I didn’t really connect with the team and it just seemed like a way to stay fit. Since coming to high school it has become more of a passion.
EE: What are you doing for the DECA competition on Nov. 11?
CL: I am doing Principle of Marketing. You walk and are given a piece of paper telling you what business you are in and you have to role play it. You then get ten minutes to prepare and you go into an interview with a professional.
EE: What kind of business would you like to market?
CL: I’d probably like to go for Target or some big corporation. It would be cool to have such a big influence and have so many people see your stuff.
