Last Friday cross country season officially kicked off with the Arapahoe Warrior Invitational meet. There were over 60 teams in attendance and the conditions were crazy. “The race had a weather delay at start, the course was muddy and the water crossings were more like small rivers,” coach Eric Selle said. Despite all that, Vista Nation still performed for victory. For the boys,Varsity finished in first place, JV finished second and Freshman/Sophomore finished first. As for the girls, Varsity finished in fifth, JV finished fourth and Freshman/Sophomore, first. Throughout the race, cross country developed teamwork and established goals for the team. “It was really fun because it was the first time the team got together for a big race and we figured out how well we worked together. It was kind of hard at the beginning because there was an hour delay but the team had fun and showed an amazing performance,” Caroline Smetanka, 11, said. The whole team is looking forward to the rest of the season with hopes of winning state.
