Mountain Vista fall sports are in full swing. Last night, Tuesday Aug. 26 Women’s Varsity Volleyball played their first home game against Cherry Creek. Although the game ended in a 3-2 loss, many of the players expressed their excitement for the start of a new season.

Senior Katie Ireland said, “I’m really excited to see what kind of talent these girls can bring to the court. I think we can make it far this season so I’m pumped to see how it goes because we have the potential to win state.”

Last year, varsity had a phenomenal season with a 22-5 record, as well as making it to the Colorado State Volleyball Championship. They pulled off a win in the first round against Fruita Monument and lost to Cherry Creek in the second round 3-1.

However, the team lost seven seniors and this year the team is much younger. There are a lot of underclassman making up the roster.

With a new season just on the horizon, many are eager to see what Vista Volleyball will pull off in 2015. Come support the spandex in the next game at Ponderosa on Sept. 3 at 6:30pm.
