Top 5 Most Anticipated Movies of 2014

2013 was a good year for cinema, but 2014 is looking to be a much better year with dozens of great films on the horizon.

5. “A Million Ways to Die in the West”:

Writer and director Seth Macfarlane is considered to be one of the funniest men working in hollywood today, being the creative force behind “Family Guy”, “American Dad” and “Ted.” So when he announces that he is going to be making a comedy set in the wild west, it is instantly going to become when of the most anticipated movies of the new year. While information about the movie is scarce, the names attached to the movie in addition to Macfarlane include Liam Neeson, Neil Patrick Harris and Bill Maher. With an all-star cast and a great creative team, “A Million Ways to Die in the West” will be a “must see” movie. The film is currently scheduled to be released on May 30.

4. “Jersey Boys”:

Based on the Tony Award winning production, the film adaption of “Jersey Boys” has all the ingredients needed to produce a highly successful film. For starters, the movie has a Tony Award winner for best musical as source material as well as the fact that actor John Lloyd Young is cast as Frankie Valli, reprising the role that won him a Tony for Best Leading Actor. In addition to this, the movie is being directed by Academy Award winner Clint Eastwood. While no trailers or previews have been released, the film is shaping up to be one of the year’s best. The movie is set to release released on June 20.

3. “The Hobbit: There and Back Again”:

The first two Hobbit movies in Peter Jackson’s prequel trilogy were critical and commercial successes. The final movie in the series can be expected to continue this success and more. The acting from the previous two movies has been excellent, the story has been intriguing, and the cliffhanger from “The Desolation of Smaug” has made the wait for the next movie almost unbearable. The end to Bilbo Baggins’ journey will be seen in theaters on Dec. 17.

2: “X-Men: Days of Future Past”:

The previous two X-Men movies, “First Class” and “The Wolverine,” were heralded as some of the finest in the franchise. The films were able to make old characters feel fresh again through unique stories and strong performances. Based on the trailers released, “Days of Future Past” will follow suit by returning many of the great actors from “First Class,” including James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender. With a plot that comes from one of the most beloved comic book stories in X-Men history, the newest entry in the series has the potential to be the best comic book movie of the year. The latest X-Men movie is scheduled for release on May 23.

tt1877832Christopher Nolan is arguably the greatest director currently working in Hollywood. His films have been exceptional in their storytelling, their acting, score, cinematography, and more. So when he announced that he was writing and directing a new space opera, it instantly became one of the most anticipated films of the year. When details of the film were released along with a teaser trailer, the film cemented itself as the number one most anticipated movie of the year. The ideas that the film has hinted at focusing on are fascinating, the actors are all talented, and Hans Zimmer returning to score the film all make the wait for “Interstellar” intolerable. Christopher Nolan’s newest movie is scheduled to be released on Nov. 7.
