Monday, February 3rd, started Wish Week for Vista. Students and staff showed up to school wearing last year’s Be a Good Person shirt, and everyone walked around and looked at the decorations set up for Carter.
The kick-off assembly started by acknowledging fall and winter sports with amazing seasons. Then Vista was introduced to Carter through a video created by yearbook editor Ellie Pierce, sharing what she loves to do and what her life has been like. Carter’s 2025 wish is to visit Hawaii and meet a volcano scientist. The Leadership and the surprise guest also taught Vista the halftime dance we will perform at the basketball game on Friday.
Mountain Vista was surprised by an appearance made by Justin Simmons, a former Broncos player. Justin stayed most of the day, met many students and teachers, signed many autographs, and had a great time starting Wish Week with Vista overall.
Later into the night, Vista hit it off at Vista Idol. Hundreds of kids supported their classmates as they performed on stage. Each individual had a fantastic performance that showcased their various talents. Ultimately, Ryan Skariah and Hadassah Haggard won first, with runners-ups Holden Hayes and Julia Walker.
Throughout the day, students, parents, staff, or anyone who wants to support Make a Wish can attend any of the dine-out options. These included Gelato & Co, Chipotle, and Crumbl cookie.
The first day of Wish Week always excites everyone, as Kayelette Angela Galiza said, “Go to the events and live your life. Vista Idol is [always] amazing, go with your friends and have fun. I can’t wait for the rest of Wish Week,” Galiza said.
