“It’s your game girls, you’ve worked hard all season to be here,” coach Gareth Jones said to the team before the final game.
For the first time, the girl’s rugby team made their debut at the Nov. 10, Colorado Rugby Championships. As compared to previous years, the 2018 season was a victory for the team. Not only did they win the championships, but the team of eleven built the foundation for a rugby program at MVHS.
The team went undefeated at the championships: at 11 a.m. Vista won 17-0 versus Chaparral High School, at 12 p.m. Vista defeated Monarch High School 10 to 5, and at 3:40 p.m. Vista won 27 to 5, against Summit High School.
The team went undefeated at Championships, placing first in the tournament and receiving the title of “Bowl Winner (Best of Varsity Dev).”
