Last night, May 24., the varsity girls soccer team “went to the ship” at Dicks Sporting Goods Park to compete against Arapahoe High School for the 5A state championship title.
The team took advantage of their opportunities in the beginning of the game, scoring two goals against their opponent and preventing them from putting any in, leaving the score at 2-0 Vista concluding the first half.
During the second half, the girls sent another ball into the back of the net, bringing the score to 3-0. In the last ten minutes of the game, Arapahoe rallied to hold possession and slid a shot past the Vista defense, giving them a point to the scoreboard.
However, their last drive was not sufficient to overcome the Golden Eagles’ lead, and the game drew to a close with the score of 3-1 Vista, crowning the team with its fourth state championship victory.
