Paris Fashion Week Comes to a Close

KENZIE WINSLOW

Screen Shot 2015-02-02 at 12.09.10 PMModels and designers from around the world flocked to Paris for the preeminent Paris Fashion Week’s Haute Couture runway shows. The shows started on Jan. 25, and came to a close on Jan. 30. The models showcased pieces for the Spring/Summer 2015 and the Autumn/Winter 2015 seasons.

This year, Paris Fashion Week was inspired by 70’s cuts. Influential designers for the upcoming seasons are Versace, Jean Paul Gaultier, Dolce and Gabbana and Armani.

Donatella Versace’s designs were considered simple among the other brands. Her Spring 2015 collection held only dresses, none of which have seams that are straight. Versace’s dresses were form fitting with seams curved. Another major theme in Versace’s latest designs are transparent cutouts and twisting patterns. Her latest creations pay tribute to the female body in a tasteful, classy way.

Jean Paul Gaultier’s beauty looks for his Spring/Summer collection were elegant, yet made a statement. Many of his looks used hair as an accessory. Whether it be using strands of hair to spell out words across the model’s forehead, or hair piled high to mimic the shape of a wedding cake.

Gaultier was able to create memorable looks and incorporate a part of the model that didn’t need to be constructed months before his show.
